Summer Camp 2023 is a group exhibition by EOP members at Eastside Projects. Haseebah exhibited a piece inspired by her trip to Kashmir in 2022. The piece called ‘Khatam’ includes an image at it’s centre, of women eating together. The patterned mounted frame is hand printed by Ali and mirrors the rug in the image.
A ‘Khatam’ is a tradition that is done every year on the anniversary of someone that has passed away. During a Khatam, attendees pray for the deceased and then eat together. The art piece gives a glimpse into the sense of community in the region as well as the it’s history of colour and pattern in Pakistan and Kashmir.
